Chris Evans has become a father for the first time, welcoming his daughter with his wife of two years, Alba Baptista. The actor, known for his role as Captain America, and the Portuguese actress, who is 28 years old, celebrated their second wedding anniversary recently and have now expanded their family.
Baptista gave birth to a baby girl named Alma Grace in Boston, Massachusetts, on Saturday. According to a birth certificate seen by TMZ, the couple has given their daughter both of their last names, Baptista Evans.
Although the couple had not officially announced the news of their pregnancy, there were rumors in recent months suggesting that a new addition to their family was on the way. Evans’s father-in-law, Luiz Baptista, hinted at the news on social media when he commented on a fan-made Father’s Day tribute for both Alba and Evans’s fathers, writing: “Chris, your turn is coming!”
Evans expressed his excitement about becoming a father during a November 2024 interview with Access Hollywood. He said, “Yeah, I hope so. The title of dad is an exciting one.”
The couple was first linked after they were spotted holding hands in November 2022. Reports later indicated that they had been dating for over a year, with one source stating that Evans had “never been happier.” They exchanged vows in 2023 during an intimate at-home wedding ceremony in Massachusetts. An insider revealed that the guests signed NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) and that “phones were forfeited.”
Page Six also reported that the couple invited their closest family and friends, along with Evans’ Marvel co-stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner.
Evans later shared that the couple got married twice, in two different ceremonies. During a ComicCon appearance in New York, he told the crowd, “I got married. It was really, really great. We actually had two ceremonies. We had one on the East Coast, we did one in Portugal. My wife’s Portuguese [to huge cheers]. Yeah, go Portugal! They were wonderful and beautiful. It’s a lot, planning a wedding, it takes a lot out of you. But now that we’re through that, we’ve just been enjoying life, gearing up for autumn – my favourite season. It’s the best time of year right now. Now we’re just relaxing, enjoying life and reflecting.”
