Brad Pitt Seeks Court to Uncover Jolie's Private Messages in Vineyard Dispute

Legal Battle Over Château Miraval Intensifies

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are locked in a legal battle over the French winery Château Miraval, a property that has become central to their ongoing dispute. The former couple, who were married for two years and shared a 12-year relationship, have been involved in multiple legal battles since their divorce was finalized in December 2024.

Pitt’s legal team recently filed a court document requesting records of private conversations that Jolie had regarding the sale of her share in the property. According to reports, Jolie has claimed attorney-client privilege as a reason for not disclosing these messages. However, Pitt’s attorneys argue that this is an abuse of the privilege and that it is Jolie’s responsibility to prove that these communications are indeed privileged.

The legal team for Pitt stated that Jolie’s refusal to turn over the communications is not justified under the law. They emphasized that it is Jolie’s burden to demonstrate that the non-attorney communications are protected by privilege, rather than Pitt having to disprove it.

Jolie previously submitted a court filing expressing her dissatisfaction with how the situation has unfolded concerning the vineyard. She mentioned that after their 2016 split, she left Pitt with control of their family homes in Los Angeles and at Miraval without compensation, hoping it would lead to a calmer relationship following a difficult period. However, she has not returned to the property since, due to its association with the painful events leading to their divorce.

The couple has six children together: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. Their relationship ended in 2016, and their divorce was finalized in 2024 after years of legal challenges.

As reported earlier, the former A-list couple is heading toward a trial next year, with both sides preparing for a lengthy legal fight. A judge recently dismissed Jolie’s attempt to dismiss Pitt’s lawsuit over Château Miraval, allowing the case to proceed. This decision has put Pitt in a stronger position ahead of the upcoming trial.

Jolie tried to challenge Pitt’s claims that she sold her stake in the estate behind his back, despite his assertion of a verbal agreement to maintain a 50-50 split. Now that her motion has been denied, the case is moving forward quickly.

Pitt expects the jury trial to last approximately 15 days, while Jolie believes it will take more than two weeks. Although the trial date has not been set yet, several key motions are still pending.

Pitt described the case as complex, citing international parties and multiple cross-claims involved in the dispute. A source close to the actor stated that this is a straightforward business issue, but the other side has introduced personal elements that have exposed weaknesses in their case and prolonged the proceedings.

In 2022, Pitt filed a $67 million lawsuit against Jolie, shortly after the shares were sold, triggering a protracted legal battle between the exes. Judge Martin’s decision to dismiss Jolie’s final three claims against Pitt has strengthened his position ahead of the trial.

This latest court ruling marks another pre-trial victory for Pitt, boosting his momentum in the ongoing legal battle. As the case continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether the legal saga over Château Miraval will escalate further or if a resolution can be reached.
