Amber Davies Explains Her Emotional Reaction During Strictly Come Dancing Results Show
Amber Davies, a former contestant on Love Island and a West End performer, recently took to the stage on Strictly Come Dancing, stepping in at the last minute as a replacement for Dani Dyer. She partnered with Nikita Kuzmin, 27, after a serious ankle injury forced Dani out of the competition. Despite receiving high scores from the judges, Amber ended up in the bottom two due to at-home votes, which led to her and Nikita being forced into a dance-off.
The other couple who had to perform in the dance-off was Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, 53, and his partner Lauren Oakley, 34. Amber shared her emotional response to the results during an appearance on It Takes Two, explaining that she felt awful about having to be part of Jimmy and Lauren’s elimination.
“It’s the humanity side of it because Jimmy loved Strictly,” Amber said. “I just felt awful that it was us that had to be a part of them being knocked out.”
She clarified that her sadness wasn’t because she and Nikita were in the dance-off, but rather because she cared deeply for Jimmy and Lauren. “I wasn’t sad because we were in the dance off, I was sad because I love him so much, and I love Lauren Oakley. Them as a team were amazing, and it’s just the worst feeling in the world.”
During the dance-off, Amber and Nikita managed to save themselves from elimination when the judges—Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Shirley Ballas—chose to keep them in the competition. Anton Du Beke, who had the casting vote that week, supported the decision.
As a result, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was eliminated from the show. He expressed his gratitude to host Tess Daly, saying: “I have absolutely loved my experience. I can only say thank you very much for letting me have this experience, and to my daughters for pushing me to come here and do this.”
Jimmy later spoke more about his feelings on It Takes Two with Fleur East, admitting he was “gutted” and that he “was just getting into it!” He believed he had more to give and felt he hadn’t reached his peak yet. “I definitely didn’t hit my peak yet – but it’s the name of the game,” he added.
Lauren Oakley also shared her disappointment, saying she saw “so much potential” in the team. When the show played a message from Jimmy’s wife and three daughters, both struggled to hold back their tears. As Fleur asked about his family’s reaction, Jimmy paused, took a deep breath, and admitted “that was really emotional.”
After some blinking, he was able to continue, while Lauren later had to use a tissue and laughed as she apologized for crying when Jimmy checked in on her.
Amber also reflected on the results on Instagram, sharing her feelings about the evening. “A gut wrenching evening in the dance off, especially dancing against two of the most amazing people I’ve met on this experience, @official_jfhasselbaink & @laurenmayoakley,” she wrote. “I feel extremely lucky & thankful to be able to experience Halloween week on strictly, but there will be two very special people missed.”
She thanked her fans for voting and hinted at a possible comeback week. “If you voted for us really really thank you, I guess this week we aim for a come back week? @nikita__kuzmin thank you for holding my extremely shaky hands extra tight.”
