CFL's Top Passers Mitchell and Rourke Named All-Star Division Stars

TORONTO — Quarterbacks Bo Levi Mitchell and Nathan Rourke, the CFL's leading passers this season, are the top names on the Divisional All-CFL teams.

Both teams were announced on Wednesday. The selections were made by the Football Reporters of Canada, nine CFL head coaches, and fans.

Mitchell, who threw for a CFL-high 5,296 yards and a career-best 36 touchdowns, was named to the East Divisional team. Rourke, who ranked second overall in passing yards (5,290) and touchdowns (31), was selected for the West Divisional squad.

Mitchell was one of 11 Hamilton Tiger-Cats players chosen for the East Divisional team, matching the number of Montreal Alouettes players on the list. Meanwhile, Rourke was among six B.C. Lions players on the West Divisional team. The first-place Saskatchewan Roughriders had 10 players named to the squad.

Seventeen Canadian players were recognized, the highest number since 2013. The full All-CFL team will be announced on November 4.

Ticats joining Mitchell on the East team include running back Greg Bell, receivers Kenny Lawler and Kiondre Smith, guard Brandon Revenberg, tackle Quinton Barrow, defensive linemen Julian Howsare and Casey Sayles, defensive backs Jamal Peters and DaShaun Amos, and safety Stavros Katsantonis.

Linebackers Darnell Sankey and Tyrice Beverette led Montreal's all-star selections. Other notable names include receiver Tyler Snead, centre Justin Lawrence, guard Pier-Olivier Lestage, tackle Nick Callender, defensive linemen Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund and Shawn Oakman, defensive back Wesley Sutton, punter Joseph Zema, and special-teams player Tyrell Richards.

Ottawa's Eugene Lewis and Justin Hardy, along with linebacker Adarius Pickett, and Toronto's cornerback Tarvarus McFadden and kicker Lirim Hajrullahu completed the East squad.

B.C.'s other selections for the West Divisional team include receivers Keon Hatcher Sr. and Justin McInnis, tackle Jarell Broxton, defensive player Mathieu Betts, and kicker Sean Whyte.

Saskatchewan's nominations were led by receivers KeeSean Johnson and Dohnte Meyers. Other players named include centre Logan Ferland, guard Jacob Brammer, tackle Jermarcus Hardrick, defensive tackle Micah Johnson, linebackers Jameer Thurman and C.J. Reavis, cornerback Tevaughn Campbell, and halfback Rolan Milligan Jr.

Calgary's Dedrick Mills, who rushed for a CFL-high 1,409 yards and 11 touchdowns (tied for most in the league), was named as the West Division's running back. Other Stampeders on the team include guard Zack Williams, defensive linemen Clarence Hicks and Jaylon Hutchings, cornerback Adrian Greene, safety Damon Webb, and punter Mark Vassett.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers' Trey Vaval was one of four players from the team selected. The others include receiver Nic Demski, linebacker Tony Jones, and defensive back Evan Holm.

The Edmonton Elks did not have any players named to the Divisional All-CFL teams.
