MAFS Fans Call Grace a 'Red Flag' as Her Relationship with Ashley Turns Toxic

A Toxic Relationship on Married at First Sight

Married At First Sight viewers have been expressing their concerns about Grace Law, as her relationship with Ashley Dommett continues to show signs of toxicity. On Tuesday night's episode, the couple faced yet another intense argument, further highlighting the challenges they've encountered since their wedding.

Ashley, a 35-year-old operations director, was matched with 31-year-old midwife Grace. However, their journey has not been smooth sailing. The pair has struggled with differences in their morals and values, leading to several heated discussions.

On Monday's episode, the couple spoke to the show's experts about their issues after nearly deciding to quit the show. Despite these conversations, their problems persisted, and on Tuesday's installment, ahead of the couple swap exercise, they had another significant argument.

During the discussion, Grace brought up previous issues they had discussed with the experts. An exasperated Ashley responded, "Do we need to keep going back through it? I've taken on board what you've said. I don't really want to argue about it again." This reaction highlighted the frustration that both parties were feeling.

Grace revealed that she felt unsettled after Ashley made a comment that left her uncomfortable. She expressed, "It's more of the same jokes. I don't like it..." In response, Ashley asked, "It was a compliment. Do you ever step back and think, 'Maybe, I've got that wrong?'"

Grace then stated, "I can't do this. We're just going round the houses as we always do." Ashley later told the cameras, "This girl is never going to see me for who I am and if you never see me for who I am, what am I doing here?" As he prepared for the couple swap, he added, "I'm upset because I feel like I've done everything I possibly can to change your mind on the way you see me. I've just had a realisation that I don't think it's going to change."

An emotional Grace then said to the camera, "He doesn't take accountability… We clearly need some time apart because I am getting sick of it now." Her words resonated with many viewers, who took to social media to express their opinions.

Viewer Reactions and Emotional Struggles

The heated arguments between Grace and Ashley sparked a wave of reactions from viewers. Many took to X to express their concerns, with comments such as:

  • "God this is red flag behaviour."
  • "Ashley needs to run asap."
  • "Ashley is so defeated. Grace has broken him down."
  • "Watching Grace & Ashley on #MAFSUK is so emotionally draining."
  • "Grace and Ashley need to leave. It's painful to watch now."

These responses reflect the growing concern among fans about the state of the couple's relationship. The emotional toll of their struggles has become evident, especially after Grace broke down in tears during the 'hardest week' of the experiment. She admitted that she and Ashley were "bringing out the worst in each other" at the commitment ceremony on Monday.

In recent episodes, the couple has faced increased conflict since the retreat. At the commitment ceremony, Grace became very emotional while discussing their issues. She opened up about her discomfort with Ashley's relationship with co-star April Holmes, 31, and gave her verdict on whether she wanted to stay or leave the experiment.

Grace said, "This has been the hardest week. One of the things that was so important to me coming into this, was being with a partner that brings out the very best in me. I really felt like we were bringing out the worst in each other. We'd agreed that we were both done, and when we tried to get back together, we had another huge big argument."

She continued, "I felt like I was losing myself a little bit. I think I was focusing on the negative, when we do have so much positive. Although I started to feel like I couldn't see the wood from the trees, I was getting really lost. I knew if we left I would miss you so much, I don't want to be apart from you, so I have chosen to stay."

Ashley shared his perspective, explaining that he was growing strong feelings and wanted to also stay. When the pair said "I do" last month, it didn't go smoothly as Grace burst into tears at the wedding, and fans criticized the experts for a "mismatch."

Feminist Grace believed the pair had opposing views, but Ashley has made changes to ensure she is happy. However, recent developments involving Ashley and April's connection have caused concern for Grace.
